New Mattresses Received by Kids for Kids!

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, Kids for Kids was able to purchase new mattresses for the children in Pernier, Haiti. Until now, the children have been sleeping on the floor at the school since their home and belongings were destroyed in a devastating fire.

Now, the children can sleep very well and enjoy a much better quality of life! Praise God for the love and support shared with those in need <3

Importance of Sleep for Kids

Quality sleep is a basic building block for a child's development. Research shows that adolescents who sleep an average of ten hours a night are more likely to have a longer attention span, positive behavior, greater learning capability, and increased memorization ability. Lack of enough rest has led to higher blood pressure, obesity, and depression.

How to Help Children Get a Good Night's Sleep

Bed times for kids can be a stressful endeavor if they resist it and throw a tantrum. Here is a list of several helpful tools tools to encourage children to embrace a good night's sleep.

  1. Three quiet activities that last about a half hour in all (reading, having herbal non-caffeinated tea, meditating, listening to soothing music, etc.)

  2. A consistent sleep schedule

  3. Reducing nap time for older children

  4. Ensure safety and comfortability (matttress, fan/air conditioning, etc.)

  5. Mitigate sound and light pollution in their room

  6. Remove the clock so that they can be present and avoid anxiety

  7. Have a healthy dinner at the right time and the right amount
